SUGAR BOWL UPDATE

Late information received this morning changes as Sugar Bowl, is closed today thru Friday December 4th, open for skiing December 5th and 6th, closed for skiing again until December 12th when it should open for the season.

I am sorry for this late information.

HEAVENLY has an average base of 20 to 26”; there planning on operating the gondola plus 5 lifts with access thru the California Base Lodge only. Today’s weather was 24 degrees, clear with light winds.

BOREAL MOUNTAIN RESORT 3 lifts in operation; the weather was sunny 19 degrees with winds 1 MPH. Boreal’s base depth 12 to 26”.

SODA SPRINGS

MT. ROSE 2 lifts in operation, average base of 12 to 24”. The base weather 33 degrees wind 0 to 5 MPH on top 32 degrees winds were 10 to 20 MPH.

NORTHSTAR is open with 6 lifts in operation; weather this morning was partly cloudy with 5 MPH wind a temperature of 17 degrees. Northstar has a base depth of 18 to 21”.

SUGAR BOWL did receive 4 to 6” of new snow, on a base of 15 to 18”; they plan on operating 2 lifts today. The weather was 24 degrees with 10 to 15 MPH wind and cloudy skies.

HEAVENLY has an average base of 18 to 24” with 6” of fresh powder on top; there planning on operating the gondola plus 3 lifts with access thru the California Base Lodge only. Today’s weather was 24 degrees, partly cloudy with light winds.

Squaw Valley for the Holiday

SKIING, RIDING AND FULL BELLIES SLATED FOR THANKSGIVING AT SQUAW VALLEY USA
[Squaw Valley USA] November 24, 2009 – 60 years ago, Squaw Valley opened for skiing for the first time on Thanksgiving Day with one lift, one rope tow, and one lodge. Today, with 33 lifts, over 50 restaurants and 40 shops, and some of the best skiing and riding in the world, the resort has a lot to be thankful for. And thanks to early season snow storms, Squaw Valley is open for skiing, riding and activities. The resort is offering delicious Thanksgiving at High Camp on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.

On Thanksgiving Day holiday revelers can feast on a Traditional Thanksgiving Buffet at The Terrace Restaurant at High Camp, 8200’. The Thanksgiving Buffet is served from 11:30 am to 6 pm and is $27 for adults and $17 for children (price does not include Cable Car ticket which is $24 for adults and $6 for children). If purchased after 3 pm, the Cable Car ticket is included and the price is $39 for adults and $23 for children.

Adults before 3 pm: $24 Cable Car; $17 Buffet
Children before 3 pm: $6 Cable Car; $17 Buffet
Adults after 3 pm: $39 package (Cable Car & Buffet)
Children after 3 pm: $23 package (Cable Car & Buffet)

Diners can also order turkey and California Cuisine off the menu at Alexander’s at High Camp from 11:30 am to 6 pm. Menus for both the Terrace and Alexander’s are attached.

Skiing and Riding
The Red Dog, Searchlight, and Papoose (beginner area) lifts run daily Thanksgiving Weekend (Nov 26-Nov 29). Lift tickets are $79 for Adults and $10 for Children. Squaw Valley SnowSport School is offering adult private and group ski and snowboard lessons. Squaw Kids is open daily for Children’s ski and snowboard lessons.

In addition to skiing and riding, the following activities are offered on Thanksgiving Day at Squaw Valley USA:

Scenic Cable Car Rides
The Cable Car will be off and running for the season, therefore guests can enjoy scenic rides to High Camp and ice skating and dining, overlooking Lake Tahoe. The Cable Car is operating daily with the first ride up at 10:40 am and the last trip down is at 7 pm on Thanksgiving Day (Nov 26). The last trip down is 4:40 pm, Friday through Sunday (Nov 27-Nov 29).

Mountaintop Ice Skating
The Olympic Ice Pavilion is open daily for ice skating from 11 am to 4 pm (until night operations begin on December 19, 2009).

Snowtubing
Squaw Valley is open for snowtubing on Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 26 – Nov 29) from 10 am to 3:30 pm at Papoose Discovery Center.

Shopping
In addition to shopping and dining in the boisterous Village at Squaw, the following shops are open for holiday shopping: The North Face, Squaw Valley Company Store, Squaw Valley Outfitters, and High Camp Bath & Tennis Shop.

Squaw Valley is open with 2 lifts at El 6200. The Cable Car is operating for sightseeing and Ice Skating. At 6AM the weather at 6200 was 23 Degrees Clear and Calm.
El 8200 24 Degrees Clear and wind 0 to 5 MPH. Base depth of 10 to l6" mostly man made snow.

Boreal 21 degrees winds 0 to 3 MPH Clear skies. 3 lifts in operation form 9AM until 4 PM. Base depth of 12 to 16".

Heavenly is in operation with a 12 to 24" base, no lift or weather available at this time.

Mammoth Mountain 16 to a 24" base 7 lifts in operation, today's weather was at the Main Lodge 28 degrees with winds 0 to 8 MPH, on the summit 27 degrees with winds to 32 MPH Clear and sunny.

It is early season skiing, there are obstacles both marked and unmarked, be aware ride and ski with care.

Squaw Valley USA] November 12, 2009 – Five inches of fresh snow blanketed Squaw Valley this morning – a wonderful precursor to Opening Day as the resort is gearing up for a historic 60th Anniversary Celebration on Opening Day, November 21, 2009. Anchoring the 60th Anniversary Season Opening Day ceremonies is a BASE jump from the top of the resort’s Cable Car performed by Birdman and Squaw Valley Pro skier, JT Homes. Ceremonies begin at 2 pm on Saturday, November 21.

In addition to skiing, riding, and opening day festivities, guests can enjoy the snow as Papoose will be open for snowtubing from 11 am to 4 pm. High Camp, el 8200', will be open for ice skating from 11 am to 4 pm and for lunch and drinks at the Terrace overlooking Lake Tahoe from 11:30 am to 4 pm. Beginning at 10:40 am, Sat & Sun, the Cable Car will be leaving every 20 minutes, with the last trip up at 3:40 pm and the last trip down leaving at 4:40 pm. All lift tickets also include Cable Car access. The Cable Car will be closed for uploads and downloads from 2:15 to 2:45 pm for JT’s BASE jump.

New snow in the mountains

Mammoth Mountain is open for the season. The following lifts are operating, Broadway Express and Face-lift Express. Lifts run daily from 8:30am to 4pm. Other lifts will be added as soon as conditions allow.

The wait is over for all you riders waiting for our Unbound Terrain Parks to open as we now have a Terrain Park set up in Forest Trail.
