Squaw Valley USA To Open for Skiing Saturday, November 20
with Fresh Snow from Major Snow Storm




[Squaw Valley USA] November 19, 2010 – Squaw Valley USA is slated to open for skiing and riding on Saturday, November 20 with fresh snow from a potentially historic storm system approaching Lake Tahoe. The storm, predicted to deliver up to 6 feet to the Sierras, has everyone excited for La Niña’s impact on the Tahoe region this winter. According to weather experts, Lake Tahoe has not seen a November snowstorm this large in the past six years.

“I’ve been here for twenty years and I’ve never before seen a storm set up like this before Thanksgiving,” said Mike Livak, General Manager of Squaw Valley USA. “With snow totals predicted to total up to six feet at el. 5,500 feet, just imagine what great conditions we’ll have above our base area located at 6,200 feet.”

Skiers and riders can kick-off winter on Saturday, November 20 by taking their first turns of the season on the slopes accessed by Exhibition Chairlift and Pony Tow, scheduled to spin from 9am to 4pm this weekend. Guests can also take a scenic ride up the Cable Car to enjoy world-class dining and ice skating overlooking Lake Tahoe.

Squaw Valley USA will be starting the season off with early-season discounted lift tickets for opening weekend. Adults can ski all day for $59, youth and seniors for $42, super seniors for $27 and kids 12 and under for just $12.
