[Squaw Valley USA] December 30, 2009 – With snow falling consistently throughout December and a post holiday storm that brought another 2 ½ feet to Squaw Valley, the skiing and riding conditions have been non-stop-phenomenal. The 127 inches of snow that fell this month make it the snowiest December since 2001 for the Lake Tahoe Resort.

Day after day of fresh conditions and full resort operations over the holidays have set the stage for a perfect introduction to the "Squaw Valley Experience", a new guide/lesson program offered by the Squaw Valley Ski and Snowboard School. The program, offered daily, gives skiers and snowboarders a unique opportunity to explore and experience some of Squaw Valley's most well-known (and some not so well known) runs with guidance and tips Squaw Valley's top instructors.

To date this season, Squaw Valley USA has received over 158 inches or over 13 feet of snow.
This December’s 127 inches snowfall total make it the snowiest December since 2001.
Current base depths measure 50-70” at elevation 8,000 ft (Squaw’s peak elevation is 9050 ft).
· Squaw Valley has received over a third of its average annual snowfall (450”) with 4 ½ months of the season remaining .

A fireworks display set off from the lower mountain rings in the New Year tomorrow evening.
Squaw Valley USA is celebrating two major anniversaries this season - the 60th anniversary of its founding and first season, in 1949-50, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Eighth Olympic Winter Games, held at Squaw Valley in February, 1960. The Olympic Heritage Celebration takes place January 8-17, 2010, at Squaw Valley USA and locations around the North Lake Tahoe region.

SQUAW VALLEY SKI PATROL PRESENTS THE 18TH ANNUAL SNOW GODS BALL ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 19
A Benefit for Avalanche Education ~ In Remembrance of Andrew Entin

[Squaw Valley USA] December 4, 2009 - Squaw Valley Ski Patrol is hosting the 18th Annual Snow Gods Ball on the evening of Saturday, December 19. Proceeds from the Snow Gods Ball allow Squaw Valley Ski Patrol to grant full scholarships to community members for Avalanche Level 1 education courses. Open to the public, the Snow Gods Ball is set to take place at the Plaza Bar in Squaw Valley's Olympic House.

This year's ball features live music with Orgone. Snow Gods Ball raffle prizes include a Squaw Valley USA Season Pass, lift tickets, ski and snowboard gear, and more. The doors open at 8 pm and the music starts at 9 pm. All party goers must be 21 or older to attend.

Snow Gods Ball headlining act, Orgone, bring a unique blend of funk, R&B, reggae and Rock & Roll. Orgone can take a song or spontaneous jam and twist it into something new and exciting every time they play it. Orgone slides through style and dynamic changes seamlessly and effortlessly, continuously injecting whatever they play with their own heavy brand of raw funk power. While Orgone continues to work as a rhythm section for other artists, including being the touring band for hip hop legends the Pharcyde, they are now stepping out on their own, bringing their brand of super heavy funk sounds to the rest of the country.

Tickets to the Snow Gods Ball are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Squaw Valley Ski Patrol at 530-581-7260. More information about this year’s celebration is also available by calling 530-581-7260.

SQUAW VALLEY RATES AN "#1" RANKING

SQUAW VALLEY USA RECEIVES #1 ENVIRONMENTAL RANKING OF 83 SKI RESORTS SCORED

[Squaw Valley USA] December 3, 2009 – The 2010 Ski Area Citizens’ Coalition ski resort environmental score card, just released, ranked Squaw Valley USA as the highest scoring Western ski resort for environmental initiatives. Squaw Valley’s ‘A’ grade and top ranking score is an incredible feat for the mountain that has invested exceptional resources toward the greening of the ski resort business.

Squaw Valley USA’s exemplary work in 35 categories in regards to preservation of sensitive areas within ski resort boundaries, water conservation and commitment to recycling and alternative energy rendered the resort the highest score of the 83 resorts evaluated (see attachment for Top 10 and Worst 10).

This is the third consecutive year Squaw Valley USA received an ‘A’ grade from the Ski Area Citizens’ Coalition, a third party group that supplies a comprehensive analysis of ski area environmental efforts. This year the coalition grouped the criteria for which the ski resorts were evaluated into four categories – Habitat Protection, Protection of Watersheds, Addressing Global Climate change, and Environmental Policies and Practices. Report card data is obtained from an annual survey and public records from government and environmental agencies. Freedom of Information Act and Public Records Act requests are filed with appropriate land managers to identify ski area development projects and management plans each spring. All document sources and detailed information about the grading criteria can be found on-line at www.skiareacitizens.com.

Environmental stewardship is integral to every aspect of Squaw Valley. Decisions at Squaw Valley are made with the knowledge that the success of the business, as a four-season mountain resort, is directly tied to the alpine environment’s beauty. “The environment is our asset,” asserts Chairman and CEO Nancy Cushing. “A beautiful and pristine mountain experience brings guests and employees to Squaw Valley. It is our duty to make every effort to protect that experience.” >From the geothermal heat pump that heats the entire Squaw Kids Children’s facility, to the multimillion dollar water run off filtration system in the parking lot, the state-of-the-art heat exchange system at High Camp’s Ice Pavilion and Lagoon & Spa, and comprehensive forest re-vegetation projects that help to preserve Squaw Valley’s natural eco system – aspects of the conscious environmental commitment are ingrained in Squaw Valley’s culture.

Squaw Valley USA is one of the only resorts in the world that devotes an entire department to forest and vegetation and environmental management. Squaw Valley scored 104 of 104 possible points in the Habitat category that evaluates protection of the resort’s own ecosystems. Largely responsible for this accolade is Squaw Valley’s Environmental Improvement Department. By re-vegetating disturbed areas, the Environmental Improvement Department is working to improve the mountain’s natural vegetation, riparian areas, and wetlands to reduce erosion and preserve water quality. It can take anywhere from a few months to several years for the vegetation to become completely established, but the efforts have paid off. Aerial photos of Squaw taken this summer show that the mountain is visibly greener than it was ten years ago – a feat more valuable than a #1 ranking.

More information on Squaw Valley’s environmental program is available at www.squaw.com. The most up-to-date operations schedules, event information and live mountain cams are available at www.squaw.com.

Site of the VIII Winter Olympic Games, Squaw Valley USA is located five miles north of Lake Tahoe along the Truckee River on Highway 89. The year-round resort offers 4,000 acres of lift-served terrain including superpipes and terrain parks, ice skating, snowtubing, indoor rock climbing, an Olympic Winter Games Museum, shopping, dining and more. THIRD ANNUAL COOGAN KELLY MEMORIAL RAIL JAM

COMMUNITY REMEMBERS LOCAL RIDER AT THIRD ANNUAL COOGAN KELLY MEMORIAL RAIL JAM
Presented by SnowBomb and Squaw Valley USA
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11
[Squaw Valley USA] November 30, 2009 – SnowBomb and Squaw Valley USA respectfully announce the Third Annual Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam, to take place Friday, December 11. Two years ago, the Tahoe/Truckee and snowboarding communities lost a rising star when Charles “Coogan” Kelly was slain at a college party in Reno, NV. Coogan was a successful competitor on the rail jam and snowboard competition circuit around Tahoe. In its third year, the Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam is a tribute to Coogan, a passionate snowboarder and friend. In his memory, SnowBomb will donate all competitor registration fees to the Coogan Kelly Memorial Foundation.

The Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam is open to riders of all ages and talents and consists of both men’s and women’s ski and snowboard divisions. Registration is from 11 am to 1 pm inside Dave’s Deli, and the competition begins at 2 pm.

Scheduled to take place on Searchlight (lower Exhibition) located near the base of the mountain, the Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam is free for spectators (no lift ticket necessary). Entry fee is $10 for all competitors, plus a $10 jersey deposit, to be refunded after event. All entry fees are donated to the Coogan Kelly Foundation. Athletes under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at registration to sign a liability release form.

The Coogan Kelly Foundation raises money for the Coogan Kelly Scholarship awarded each year to young aspiring snowboarders to help advance their careers. Contributions to the Coogan Kelly Foundation can be sent to: Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation, c/o The Coogan Kelly Foundation, PO Box 366, Truckee, CA 96160.

More information on the Coogan Kelly Memorial Rail Jam is available on www.snowbomb.com. Events and operations are weather dependent. The most up-to-date resort conditions, operation schedules, events and live mountain cams are available on www.squaw.com.
