Squaw Valley to Host Two Days of Jeremy Jones’ Acclaimed Big Mountain Snowboard Films for Two Great Causes

Squaw Valley will host two showings of “Deeper” on December 27 and two showings of “Further” on December 29 with Jeremy Jones, Jonny Moseley and local athletes to support Protect Our Winters and Girls on the Run

[Olympic Valley, Calif.] December 22, 2012 – Squaw Valley will be showing two showings of Jeremy Jones’ big mountain snowboarding movie “Deeper” on December 27 and “Further” on December 29 to support Protect Our Winters (POW) and Girls on the Run. All shows will be attended by athletes Jeremy Jones, Jonny Moseley, Ralph Backstrom, Iris Lazzareschi and JT Holmes – all of whom will be signing posters before the start of each show.

Tickets for all showings are $15 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under. 100 percent of the ticket proceeds from both nights will go to Protect Our Winters (POW) and Girls on the Run - Sierras. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. for the first showings on both December 27 and December 29, with the shows starting at 4:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the second showings for both dates, with the shows starting at 7:30 pm. Athlete autograph signings will take place before each film begins.

From the award-winning producers at Teton Gravity Research (TGR), “Deeper,” presented by O’Neill, was the first big mountain snowboarding film of its kind.  “Deeper” follows Jeremy Jones and other top freeriders as they travel to the world's snowboarding meccas and venture past the boundaries of helicopters, snowmobiles, and lifts to explore untouched realms. Featuring all night hikes, sleeping on peaks, camping 65 miles from civilization, 20 below temperatures, 10-day storms, and 20-mile days bring the adventure back into riding, “Deeper” puts the viewer in the athletes' boots, from the trials and tribulations to mind-boggling breakthroughs in the sport of snowboarding.

“Further,” the second installment in the Jeremy Jones’ snowboard movie trilogy, explores some of the world's most remote mountain terrain while continuing Jones' mission to camp deep in the backcountry and on the summits of unridden lines to access nearly vertical spines and wide-open powder fields. Drawing upon a lifetime of experience Jones seeks out first descents and exotic experiences in an effort to evolve not only his snowboarding, but himself. The relationships forged from isolation and travel are almost as intriguing as the maniacal descents themselves. ALPINE MEADOWS is open with 11 lifts, and 3 parks.  Alpine did receive 6” of fresh powder.   

MAMMOUTH MOUNTAIN should have 27 lifts in operation today.  It was snowing when the report came in, they did receive 7” of new snow.  

SUGAR BOWL gondola plus 7 lifts running along with two open parks.  Sugar Bowl did receive 11 to 16” of new powder.  

ROYAL GORGE CROSS COUNTRY has 30K of m/g track for your enjoyment, with 16” of new snow.
