Celebrate the Holidays at Squaw!

[Squaw Valley USA] December 12, 2010 - Celebrate the Holidays at Squaw with two weeks of yuletide cheer. Santa on skis, Christmas carolers, live music, holiday parties, and the Christmas Eve torchlight parade are just a few of the Holiday events and festivities at Squaw Valley USA this winter. Throughout the holidays, everything shines with festive spirit as the Village lights sparkle and guests enjoy moonlit snowshoe tours, shopping and holiday feasts in this classic winter wonderland. To top it off, Jonny Moseley will be on the slopes skiing with guests for free from December 26 through January 2. New this winter, Squaw Valley welcomes a host of new events for kids and families such as hot chocolate & s’mores snowtubing parties, a New Year’s Eve kids concert and a Christmas stocking scavenger hunt. December 18: Tubbs Guided Moonlight Snowshoe Tour
Come out and explore Squaw during the spectacular winter full moon. Join our experienced guides as you snowshoe amidst moonlit views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountain peaks. Fun for all ages, cost includes snowshoe rentals (you must supply your own poles if needed). Dress appropriately and wear proper boots. Tours meet at High Camp at 5:30pm. December 18-24: Santa in the Village
Come visit Santa in the Village at Squaw Valley USA to take your picture and tell him your last minute holiday wishes. 12pm to 4pm.

December 18-19; 22-24: Carolers in the Village
Enjoy the festive sounds of carolers ushering in the holidays. Grab a hot cocoa and listen to our carolers sing your favorite holiday songs. 2pm to 4pm in the Village.

December 22-25: Santa on the Slopes
Santa and his elf are hitting the slopes! Santa will be skiing at Squaw Valley from 11am to 1pm from December 22-25. Come make some turns with the big guy.

December 22-30: Ski with Jonny Moseley Powered by Sprint (excluding Dec. 25)
Come on out to take a few laps with Olympic Gold Medalist and Squaw Valley’s Chief Mountain Host, Jonny Moseley. Intermediate and Expert skiers can join Jonny at the top of the Funitel at 2pm for a unique mountain tour. First stop will be Shirley Lake for a few laps and laughs as Jonny shows his skill and the skiing only ramps up from there. Ski with Jonny for the remainder of the day… if you can keep up!

December 23: Skate with Santa at High Camp Olympic Ice Pavilion, el. 8200’
Come skate with Santa at Squaw Valley’s Olympic Ice Pavilion, overlooking beautiful Lake Tahoe. Santa will be skating from 1pm to 2pm at High Camp, el. 8200’.

December 24: Pictures with Santa and His Elf at the top of Gold Coast
Come take next year’s holiday photo with Santa and his elf at the top of the Gold Coast Chairlift from 12pm to 1pm. Bring your camera or have your picture taken by the Mountain Photography professionals.

December 24: Holiday Torchlight Parade
Join us for this holiday favorite viewable from the base area and Village. A traditional family favorite, the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade is a beautiful and festive procession of lights starting at 6pm. Please note, there is no night skiing/riding on this evening.

December 25: Merry Christmas from Squaw Valley USA!

December 26: On-Mountain Stocking Scavenger Hunt
Find one of the 100 red stockings hidden on the mountain and win free lift tickets and other great prizes! Prizes can be redeemed at the info desk in the Cable Car building.

December 26 – January 2: Squaw Sessions Ski & Snowboard Camp for Teens
Squaw Sessions is specifically designed for intermediate and advanced 13-18 year-old skiers and snowboarders. The program provides teens with the opportunity to experience Squaw Valley’s rich freeride culture firsthand. December 26: Sunday Mountaintop Services
Give thanks and praise in the great outdoors every Sunday at Squaw. Services at Squaw Valley are held at 2pm at the top of the Links chairlift, led by Tahoe Resort Ministries. Cable car ticket required. All are welcome. Services occur every Sunday beginning Dec. 19, 2010 through Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011.

December 27-28: Hot Chocolate and S’mores Snowtubing Parties at Papoose
Start night tubing off right with a hot chocolate and s’mores cooked over a firepit. Free hot chocolate & s’mores available from 4:30pm to 6pm at the Papoose Discovery Center. Night tubing runs until 8pm on Papoose.

December 29: Dance Party on Ice with DJ Sparkle at the Olympic Ice Pavilion
High Camp, el. 8,200’ is bringing back a host of roller rink favorites including the hokey pokey and freeze dancing for our Holiday Dance Party on Ice! DJ Sparkle will call the shots as skaters boogie to the music. 2pm to 3pm at the Olympic Ice Pavilion.

December 31: Todd Wees Concert & Family New Year’s Eve Party at High Camp, el. 8200’
Come one come all and come dressed in your best for this New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. The all-ages soiree includes a starry-night Cable Car ride, concert starring Todd Wees and his band, a delicious dinner in the elegantly decorated Terrace Room, and a 9pm East Coast New Year’s champagne toast. $84 for adults, $49 for kids 12 & under (prices include Cable Car tickets). Event runs from 6pm to 9pm.

December 31: New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Enjoy incredible fireworks this New Year’s Eve at Squaw Valley USA! The show starts at 9:30pm and is viewable from the Base Area.
