Squaw Valley USA Announces the Appointment of Dee Byrne as the Resort's New Director of Snowsports School and Race Programs

Dee Byrne brings new energy and leadership to Squaw Valley’s Snowsports School



[Squaw Valley USA] January 31, 2011 - Squaw Valley USA welcomes Dee Byrne as the resort’s new Director of Snowsports School and Race Programs. With 37 years experience in the ski instruction industry including eight years as the Director of Vail Snowsports School, Byrne brings a wealth of experience to the resort’s renowned Snowsports School. Byrne joins the team from Aspen/Snowmass where she served as the Business Development Manager for Aspen/Snowmass Ski & Snowboard Schools. Byrne's appointment as Director of Snowsports and Race Programs is effective as of January 31, 2011.

Byrne will be responsible for the management and future development of Squaw Valley’s Snowsports School including all aspects of strategic planning, product development, team building and daily operations. Byrne joins the resort with the goal of establishing Squaw Valley as home to the best snowsports school in the West.

“Ms. Byrne is well-known as one of the ski-industry’s leaders in managing high-volume ski and snowboard schools for North America’s premier resorts,” Wirth continued. “I am confident that Ms. Byrne’s passion for skiing coupled with her dedication to guest service and innovative programming will position Squaw Valley’s Snowsports School as among the best ski schools in North America.”

Originally from Spokane, WA, Byrne began skiing at age eight in Schweitzer Basin, ID and skied with her family every weekend from that point through High School. Byrne started teaching skiing at age 14 and has not stopped since. During her career, Byrne has worked for several major resorts including Cornet Peak (NZ), Beaver Creek, Vail and Aspen/Snowmass. Byrne’s industry credentials include a PSIA Level III Certification, two terms on the PSIA National Alpine Demonstration Team, and six years on the PSIA National Education Advisory Council.
