Squaw Valley USA Hosts Two-Week Kids Extravaganza
This February!

[Squaw Valley USA] January 27, 2010 – Squaw Valley USA comes alive in February with a two-week kids extravaganza. Big trucks, street parties, balloon animals, skating parties and kids’ concerts are just a few of the festivities for kids and families taking place during Squaw Valley’s Kid-O-Rama. From activities sure to entertain Squaw Valley’s smallest visitors to the action-packed Squaw Sessions Teen Camp, Kid-O-Rama offers non-stop fun for kids of all ages. Be sure to check out the two Big Truck Nights in the Village featuring fire trucks, snowplows and grooming machines in the Village and multiple appearances of renowned children’s performer Todd Wees and his band. Kid-O-Rama runs from February 12 through February 27, 2011.


February 12-27: Family Ski Racing on the Ford Recreational Raceway
Race Mom or Dad, brother or sister in a head to head battle on the NASTAR Ford Recreational Raceway, located skiers right from the top of the Gold Coast Express. Races cost just $1 and the winner of each family gets a chocolate medal to show off their domination. Open from 10am to 3pm.

February 12-27: Squaw Sessions Teen Camp
Specifically designed for ski and snowboard crazed 13 to 18 year-olds, Squaw Sessions provides the new school breed with the opportunity to experience Squaw Valley's rich freeride culture firsthand. Call (530) 452-7263 for more information and reservations.

February 14-18 & 21-25: Kids get 10% off at All Fired Up! Come paint-your-own pottery in the Village at Squaw.

February 12 & 19: Todd Wees Concert in The Village Events Plaza
Saturdays Feb 12 & 19 during Kid-O-Rama, Squaw Valley will have extraordinary kids musician Todd Wees putting on a concert for families and kids of all ages. 1pm to 2:30pm in the Village events plaza.

February 12-14: Valentine’s Day Cookie Poem Contest at Wildflour
Kids and adults alike can get in the Valentine’s Day spirit with the Valentine’s Day Poem Contest and giant cookies at Wildflour Baking Company. Guests can enter the poem contest or buy heart-shaped cookies with a short, personal poem inscribed in icing for their loved ones. 7am to 7pm at Wildflour Baking Co. inside Olympic House.

February 15: Face painting in front of “All Fired Up!”
Find our facepainter in front of All Fired Up! in The Village. The paint is on us, so come on over and let our facepainter turn faces into works of art. 1pm to 3pm.

February 15 & 22: Skating Party with DJ Razzle Dazzle at High Camp
High Camp, el. 8,200’ is bringing back a host of roller rink favorites including the hokey pokey and freeze dancing for our Dance Party on Ice! DJ Raz will call the shots as skaters boogie to the music. 2pm to 3pm at the Olympic Ice Pavilion.

February 15-17: S’mores and Tubing
Start night tubing off right with a hot chocolate and s’mores cooked over a firepit. Free hot chocolate & s’mores available from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Papoose Discovery Center. Snowtubing is open 10am to 3:30pm on Papoose.

February 17 & 24: Big Truck Night & Cable Car Engine Room Tour
For everyone who has ever thought trucks are cool, Big Truck Night is here. Fire trucks, a grooming machine and giant loaders take over the Cable Car Plaza. Kids and families can check out the massive machinery and meet the drivers behind the scenes. 3:30pm to 5pm in the Cable Car Plaza at the base, el. 6,200'.

The biggest engine of them all can be found in the Cable Car building. This giant engine produces enough power to take guests up and down the mountain every day in the Cable Car. Join our lead Cable Car engineer as he takes you on a tour of the biggest engine at Squaw Valley. Tour will start at 4pm in front of the Cable Car building entrance.


February 18-26: Night Tubing at Papoose
Cruise the slopes on a tube under the stars at Papoose. Tubing runs from 10am to 7pm every night this week.

February 18, 20, 21, 25, 27: Children’s Balloon Creations
The fantastic and amazing balloon artist Dan Wiles will be twisting up some cool creations for the kids in the Village Event Plaza from 2pm to 4pm.

February 22: Facepainting at “Mindplay” in The Village
Find our facepainter in front of Mindplay in The Village. The paint is on us, so come on over and let our professional turn faces into works of art. 1pm to 3pm.

February 22-24: S’mores and Tubing
Start night tubing off right with a hot chocolate and s’mores cooked over a firepit. Free hot chocolate & s’mores available from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Papoose Discovery Center. Night tubing runs until 7pm on Papoose.

February 24: Facepainting at Big Truck Night.
After getting to check out the big trucks on Kid-O-Rama’s second Big Truck Night, kids can keep the fun rolling by getting their faces painted for FREE by one of our professional face painters. Find them in the Cable Car promenade next to the big trucks. 3:30pm to 5pm.

February 26: Todd Wees Concert and Pizza Party
Olympic Valley Lodge (OVL) comes alive as the Truckee children’s singer, Todd, Wees, performs original kids’ songs in the great company of a face painter. This amazing kids and family event is free for all to attend. Pizza slices will be available for purchase for those in need of some early evening nourishment, and wine and beer will be available for purchase for those of age. 4:30pm to 6pm in the Olympic Valley Lodge.
