Squaw Valley Kicks Off Spring with a Julia Mancuso Pool Party and Free Concert by Donavon Frankenreiter

[Squaw Valley USA] April 2, 2011 – Squaw Valley USA is kicking off their famous spring party season on Saturday, April 9 with the Julia Mancuso Kiss My Tiara Pool Party followed by a free concert with Donavon Frankenreiter on the KT Sundeck. Squaw Valley is widely known as North America’s spring skiing capital, and this spring will be better than ever with the resort’s incredible snowfall. After breaking the highest season snowfall on record with 691”, Squaw Valley has extended their ski season from May 8 through May 30, 2011*.

Squaw Valley’s Olympic Gold Medalist Julia Mancuso will host The Kiss My Tiara Pool Party at the High Camp Pool and Hot Tub on Saturday, April 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Named for the Olympian’s hit lingerie line, The Kiss My Tiara Pool Party will feature island-inspired reggae spun by DJ Tracy Too Dread and $5 Malibu Mango Mai Tais, available to those 21 and older. Julia Mancuso will also be signing posters from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., after which she will lead a ski run down the mountain which the public is welcome to join.

Directly following Julia Mancuso’s ski run down the mountain, Donavon Frankenreiter’s free outdoor concert will kick off on Squaw Valley’s KT Sundeck. Known for hit singles “Free” and “Glow” and frequently compared to artist like Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter’s popular folk rock and acoustic music is a perfect fit for Squaw Valley’s spring scene. The free concert will run from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.

Those who miss the opportunity to ski with Julia Mancuso on Saturday can join the Olympian for a mountain tour on Sunday, April 10 starting at 11 a.m. at the top of the resort’s Funitel. Julia Mancuso’s ski career started as a Squaw Valley Mighty Mite but has taken her to the Olympics and beyond. Following two silver medals in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the Squaw Valley native has had a phenomenal season this year winning the final World Cup downhill of the season on March 16 and coming in first place in Nationals on April 1.
