Tough Mudder Teams Up with Squaw Valley USA for Extreme Obstacle Event

September 17-18, 2011

[Squaw Valley USA] April 22, 2011 – This September, athletes will be tested on an extreme on-mountain obstacle course on Squaw Valley USA’s legendary terrain for the 11th Tough Mudder event. Chosen for its challenging landscape, Squaw Valley USA is one of 10 Tough Mudder venues across the country and this fall marks the second time the endurance event has come to Northern California. Squaw Valley’s Tough Mudder event will take place September 17-18, 2011.

With beautiful Lake Tahoe as the backdrop for the event, Mudders will scale the Sierras throughout the 10 mile-long course complete with 19 different obstacles. From the exhilarating FireWalker, in which participants run through fire, to crowd-favorite Electroshock Therapy, where contestants dash through a field of live wires with up to 10,000 volt shocks, the challenge is on this September.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Tough Mudder to host this spectacular event and eager to welcome both guests and participants to the resort,” states Andy Wirth, Squaw Valley’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “From on-mountain activities to stunning lake views, participants and spectators will be able to enjoy the spectacular fall season at Squaw Valley USA.”

The military-style event challenges are strategically placed across the peaks that make up Squaw Valley. With more than 10,000 men and women expected to participate, those interested are encouraged to register early for the event with other comrades. Spectator tickets are also available for friends and family who wish to cheer on participants and enjoy the resort.

The top 5% of finishers will qualify for the World's Toughest Mudder, a 48-hour death race December 17–18, 2011 in Englishtown, New Jersey in which the winner will receive $10,000.

Just in time to kick off the winter 2011-2012 season, Tough Mudder is sure to awe both spectators and those daring enough to accept the challenge.
