Yoga Squaw’d Offers Free Yoga in The Village at Squaw Valley Every Wednesday

[Olympic Valley, Calif.] June 20, 2013 – With the opening of Squaw Valley’s new Wanderlust Yoga Studio this June, the resort has started Yoga Squaw'd, offering complimentary community outdoor yoga classes on Wednesday evenings this summer. Yoga Squaw'd classes will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on First Street at The Village at Squaw Valley, where participants can explore their yoga practice just as the alpenglow lights up Squaw Valley’s breathtaking mountain landscape.

The first Yoga Squaw’d session will take place on June 26, coinciding with the soft opening of Squaw’s new Wanderlust Yoga Studio. The free Yoga Squaw’d classes will take place every Wednesday from June 26 through September 11, with the exception of July 17.

In keeping with the spirit of Wanderlust’s fusion of yoga and music, several of the Yoga Squaw’d classes will feature DJs. Kicking off the 4th of July holiday, the first class to feature DJ accompaniment will be held on Wednesday, July 3 featuring DJ Om Jah and led by lululemon ambassador Sherry McConkey. Other dates to feature DJs will include June 10 and September 11, led by instructor Kate Dunn-Davenport.

Before or after each Wednesday Yoga Squaw’d session, yogis can relax in The Village at Squaw Valley and treat themselves to a massage at Trilogy Spa or take advantage of retail shop specials in The Village from 4-8 p.m. at Salomon, Oakley and Lather and Fizz. Ladies can also enjoy a post-yoga glass of wine for Ladies’ Night at Uncorked every Wednesday, open from 4-8:30 p.m.

Squaw Valley’s new Wanderlust Yoga Studio is scheduled to open on June 26 and will offer yoga classes seven days a week, taught by local instructors including Jenn Choi, Masha Bishop, Meg McCraken and Kate Dunn-Davenport, among others. The yoga studio will also be offering workshops and retreats throughout the year.

The fifth annual Wanderlust Festival will return to Squaw July 18-21. This year’s festival features yoga by over 60 instructors including Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Gurmukh and many more, as well as headlining music acts such as Moby and Gramatik.
