SPRING MAGIC KICKS OFF AT SQUAW VALLEY USA

Squaw Valley opens the High Camp Lagoon and Spa Saturday, March 20
[Squaw Valley USA] March 18, 2010 – Spring Magic kicks off this weekend at Squaw Valley USA with the opening of the High Camp Lagoon and Spa, el. 8200’. Squaw Valley is enjoying a phenomenal late winter season - and it's far from over. With 381 inches already this year, Spring at Squaw brings bluebird powder days, meticulous grooming, lively events (like the Cushing Classic) and mountaintop pool parties. The High Camp Lagoon and Spa will open Saturday, March 20 and will operate from 11am to 4pm with a DJ pool party from 1pm to 4pm.

Skiers and riders can enjoy all that spring has to offer with Squaw's Spring Pass, on sale now for $179. The Spring Pass is valid 7 days a week starting April 1, 2010. Spring passholders will get their money’s worth as Squaw Valley offers Tahoe’s longest winter season, the most expansive, diverse and highest quality spring terrain and free use of the High Camp Lagoon and Spa starting mid-spring. Squaw currently boasts a 12+ foot base on the upper mountain and is scheduled to remain open until May 9, 2010, conditions permitting.

Squaw is hosting a plethora of events to suit all tastes and ages this spring. The weekend of April 3, 2010, Squaw hosts the Peaks and Lagoons Spring Party Weekend featuring a variety of pool parties, activities and competitions. Throughout the spring, Monster Energy’s Spring Series brings five competitions to the slopes ranging from rail jams to GS races. Each competition will be followed by a DJ pool party at the High Camp Lagoon and Spa, el. 8200’. April 16-18, Squaw hosts the first ever U.S. Professional Ski Patrol Olympics featuring professional patrollers from across the country.

Later this spring, daredevils cross the frigid waters of Lake Cushing for the 20th Annual Cushing Classic. This wildly entertaining competition challenges local lunatics and gregarious guests to cross the vast and chilly waters of Lake Cushing on skis, a snowboard or any ski or snowboard-based vessel. Notorious for its colossal crashes, hilarious costumes, and ultra-creative pond skimming contraptions, the annual Lake Cushing Classic comes to Squaw mid-April to early May on a date to be determined.
