Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows offer Lift Tickets for a Good Cause

Buy a lift ticket in support of a local non-profit – a win, win

[Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows, Calif.] January 15, 2013 – Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are showing their community support by providing lift tickets to five local non-profit organizations to sell at a discount. Skiers and riders can show their goodwill by purchasing an affordable lift ticket from one of the five local non-profits of their choice including Arts for the Schools, KidsZone Museum, Sierra Senior Services, Sierra Avalanche Center and Truckee Tahoe Humane Society. The tickets are valid Sunday through Friday, February 3-8, 2013.

“We are thrilled to once again be included in the Squaw and Alpine Meadows Community Ski Week,” said Stephanie Nistler, executive director, Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. “The proceeds from the tickets we sell will go directly toward helping us save the lives of homeless pets in our community and beyond. Skiing powder and helping puppies…what could be better?”

Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are dedicated to being responsible stewards of this legendary mountain environment and to providing leadership to enhance the quality of life in our community. Special emphasis of community giving on behalf of Squaw and Alpine is focused on youth education, snow sports, environmental and animal protection, and community efforts to alleviate hunger.

“Our role as dedicated members of the Tahoe and Truckee communities is to give back to the organizations that support our guests and employees,” said Andy Wirth, president and CEO of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. “ The money raised will be used to benefit organizations and services that are extremely important to our local community.”

Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows provided 300 lift tickets to each of the participating five local non-profits – a total donation of $148,500 at ticket window rates. Tickets are valid any one day between February 3-8, Sunday – Friday, at either Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows or both resorts in the same day, accessed by the free Squaw/Alpine Express shuttle. Rates for the tickets start at $30 per ticket- a savings of up to $69. Tickets must be purchased directly from one of the following five non-profit organizations: Arts for the Schools, KidsZone Museum, Sierra Senior Services, Sierra Avalanche Center and Truckee Tahoe Humane Society.
