Eight chairlifts are expected to operate today, including: Broadway, Stump Alley, Thunderbound, Face Lift Express, Discovery Chair, the Upper and Lower Panorama Gondolas and Chair 23.

The Lake Cushing Crossing Returns to Squaw
Sunday, April 29
[Olympic Valley, Calif.] April 27, 2012 – Squaw Valley is excited to host the 22nd Annual Lake Cushing Crossing this Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. April 29 also marks the final day of Squaw Valley’s 2011-12 winter season, however, Squaw’s sister resort, Alpine Meadows, will remain open Friday-Sunday through May 13.
Click here for images of the Lake Cushing Crossing.
The Lake Cushing Crossing is the resort’s acclaimed pond skimming event that challenges participants to cross the vast and chilly waters of Cushing Pond on skis, a snowboard or any ski or snowboard-based vessel. The event is known for colossal crashes, hilarious costumes, and ultra-creative pond skimming contraptions.
Since the creation of the Cushing Crossing over 20 years ago, plenty of ski resorts have come up with their own pond skimming events, yet none rival this one. Perhaps it is because the characters at Squaw are a little more creative. Or maybe it is because Cushing Pond is a real pond, rather than a tarp-lined ditch or kiddie pool. Whatever the reason, the Cushing Crossing blows other pond skimming events out of the water, as demonstrated by the thousand plus spectators that come out for the event every year.
In addition to the legendary pond skimming event, this weekend boasts an incredible lineup of spring fun at Squaw Valley with a Saturday pool party at High Camp, great ski conditions and sunny skies in the forecast, and music at the KT Base Bar.
The Cushing Crossing is open to the first 50 registrants. Registration this year will take place at the KT Base Bar at 9 a.m. and the competition kicks off at 1 p.m. The cost to participate is $20 per person. All entrants must be 18 years of age or older and wear a life preserver and a helmet. For more info go to squaw.com.

Miss Superpark Comes to Squaw Valley
[Olympic Valley, Calif.] April 20, 2012 –Starting on Monday, April 23, the eighth installment of Miss Superpark is coming to Squaw Valley. More than fifty of the world’s top female riders are making the trip to North Lake Tahoe to hit some of this year’s most creative and progressive park features. Gretchen Bleiler, Erin Comstock, Jenny Jones, Jamie Anderson, Kimmy Fasani, Enni Rukajärvi, Jess Kimura, Kelly Clark and many more are getting ready to invade Squaw Valley and open up a new chapter in women’s snowboarding. To see some of the video highlight’s from last year’s event, check out SnowboarderMag.com.
As noted by Grind Networks, “Miss Superpark is dedicated to showcase the world’s best female riders on the world’s best terrain created by the world’s best park building teams.” The features for Miss Superpark were built by Squaw Valley’s terrain park crew, led by industry veteran Jessica Richitelli – one of the only female terrain park managers in the nation– in conjunction with Snow Park Technologies (SPT). Squaw Valley and SPT joined up this winter season to take Squaw’s terrain parks to the next level.
Miss Superpark is the most highly acclaimed women’s specific event in the snowboard industry. Snowboarder Magazine has been continually developing the event in support of women’s snowboarding and the evolution of their sport, and each year these ladies push their level of riding to new heights. Miss Superpark is supported in print/online by Snowboarder Magazine and Grind Networks.
Spectators can check out the action at Squaw next week Monday, April 23 through Thursday, April 26. The best viewing will be off of Squaw Valley’s Siberia and Gold Coast chairlifts.
