[Tahoe City, Calif.] April 6, 2012 – The High Fives Foundation, Alpine Meadows, VolklSkis and Marker Bindings present Trains 2012 Freestyle Ski & Snowboard Contest, Sat., April 14, 2012 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. A great spectator event, Trains affords the opportunity for spectators to witness world-class skiing and snowboarding at one of the most stunning locales in the Lake Tahoe basin.

Alpine Meadows and Snow Park Technologies roll out all the stops with an amazing slopestyle course and spectator venue on the Dance Floor Terrain Park. A unique format at a competition unlike any other, Trains will showcase the talents of 30 competitors vying for top honors and the chance to donate over $5,000 to selected charities.

“Trains is a truly rider-driven event, featuring top athletes mixing it up in Alpine’s Terrain Park,” said Roy Tuscany, founder of the High Fives Foundation. “The event is a locomotive of energy, positivity, and fun for all.”

Tahoe’s Most Unique Event Format:
Three teams of ten (skiers and snowboarders) will be picked by captains to compete for Best Male, Best Female and Best 540 (degree rotation) in the first half of the competition. The event’s namesake Trains will be on display in the second half of the event as the team competition for Best Train ensues with each team of ten popping off the features in succession (much like the grand finale on a Fourth of July Fireworks display).

Winners donate their prize money:
This is an invitational competition with participation by top athletes including Parker White, Maude Raymond, Nick Goepper, Carson Lehoillier and Chris Logan, to name a few. A total of $5,000 cash will be donated by the winners of Best Male, Best Female, Best 540 (degree rotation) and Best Train to the winners’ select charitable organizations.

DJ Silver Boombox Thief and DJ One Truest

DJ Silver Boombox Thief will be onsite to turn out the beats entertaining spectators and keeping the athletes pumped throughout the competition. Renowned throughout the Lake Tahoe area for melding reggae, dancehall, hip hop, and jazz, DJ One Truest will perform after the event at the after party on Alpine’s Sun Deck.
