[Olympic Valley, Calif.] April 2, 2012 – From pool parties and live music to scavenger hunts and art openings – there is always something happening at Squaw Valley. Please see below for a full listing of April events.


U.S. Ski Team Day: Saturday, April 7
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join Julia Mancuso, Jonny Moseley, Tamara McKinney, Travis Ganong and your favorite Squaw Valley skiers and snowboarders at the 2012 Squaw Valley U.S. Ski Team Day. This event supports the athletes of the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding team and U.S. Freeskiing team.

New Belgium’s Scavenger Hunt: Saturday, April 7
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a day to don your best costume, chase chickens, search for bigfoot and answer some ridiculous riddles all while skiing and raising money for the Shane McConkey Foundation. Registration is $10 per person with teams of 1 to 4 people. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the KT Base Bar. Extra points for costumes! More details at www.newbelgium.com/hunt.

Après Ski Music in The Village: Saturday, April 7
3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Finish your day off right with free live après ski music in The Village with Ben Martin. Music will be centrally located in The Village Events Plaza.

Season Passholder Appreciation Party: Sunday, April 8
11 a.m. As a thank you, all season passholders are invited for a party and live music at the KT Base Bar. All passholders will enjoy great discounts on food and drinks all day when they show their season pass.

Easter Sunday On-Mountain Easter Egg Hunt: Sunday, April 8
9 a.m. Squaw’s annual on-mountain Easter egg hunt begins at 9 a.m. at the moment the lifts open on Easter Sunday. Get your Easter basket ready and hunt for colored eggs all over the mountain. This year, one lucky winner will find a golden egg, containing a 2012-13 Adult Bronze season pass. Clues will be provided throughout the day via twitter, the Squaw Valley smartphone app and Facebook.

Easter Sunday Mountaintop Service: Sunday, April 8
2 p.m. This year, celebrate Easter in the great outdoors with the non-denominational Tahoe Resort Ministries. Services are held at the top of the Links chairlift. All are welcome. Tram ticket not included.

Retro Ski Day: Saturday, April 14
Break out the rear entry boots, that swanky sweater and all the neon you can find for the annual ode to our glorious roots. After shredding Headwall all day on your 201's stop on by the KT Base Bar to hear live music from The Nibblers from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Suzi Bock Memorial Day: Saturday, April 14
9 a.m. Participate in two Giant Slalom races and a fundraiser benefiting the Stanford Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and the UC Davis Alpine Ski Team. This event is in memory of Suzi Bock, a former UCD ski racer and member of the Squaw Valley National Ski Patrol. The race fee includes an all day lift ticket, racing, awards and an evening banquet with live music. Details are available by calling 530-587-7517.

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Finish your day off right with free live après ski music in The Village with Jeff Jones. Music will be centrally located in The Village Events Plaza.

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join photographer Keoki Flagg as he unveils his latest images from this winter season. For more information, please visit www.GalleryKeoki.com.

Bill Dutton Uphill: Sunday, April 15
8 a.m. The Billy Dutton Uphill is Squaw Valley's 'run what ya brung' uphill race. The course climbs 2000' and over 3.2 miles from the base of KT-22 to High Camp. This fun annual event is a memorial race for Billy Dutton, a longtime friend of North Lake Tahoe, and Squaw Valley, and a former employee of Squaw Valley. Registration begins at 7 a.m. outside of Dave's Deli. More details are available by calling 530-587-2573.

Après Ski Music in The Village: Saturday, April 28
3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Finish your day off right with free live après ski music in The Village with Ben Martin. Music will be centrally located in The Village Events Plaza.

North Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Celebration: Saturday, April 21
11 a.m. This all-ages, community sponsored event gives participants an opportunity to learn about recycling/composting, alternative energy, sustainability, watershed and forest health, and reducing ecological footprints via a diverse array of agency representatives and earth-friendly vendors. Join us for live music, a trashion show, recycling event and environmental fun at the largest eco-event in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee area. For more information see www.tahoetruckeeearthday.org.

22nd Annual Lake Cushing Crossing: Date TBD
The resort’s acclaimed pond skimming event, the Lake Cushing Crossing, challenges participants to cross the vast and chilly waters of Cushing Pond on skis, a snowboard or any ski or snowboard-based vessel. The event is known for colossal crashes, hilarious costumes, and ultra-creative pond skimming contraptions. Like Maverick’s (the surfing competition), the Cushing Crossing’s date is never set far in advance – but is announced when conditions are optimal.

Per the revised press release, the Squaw Passholder Party has been moved to April 22nd.
